Before I complete the evaluation of Dr. Ericka Devore, I would like to first explain how I cam e to be her patient. I went for too many years with hearing loss before I finally decided to purchase hearing aids. I had an evaluation by a ENT and his audiologists and I was ttold I had severe hearing loss. I am a retired teacher who studied biology and chemistry pre-med in ccollege. I always research doctors and that I choose for both my wife and myself. Dr. Ericka Devore worked for a number of years in a doctor’s office before setting up her own practice in two locations in Lake County. She has a doctorate in audiology. She is not only knowledgeable about the hearing aids themselves, but is an expert in the rehabilitation that goes with hearing loss. This is a complex field and the amplification of sound (hearing aid( is only part of the process. Hearing entails the ear, visual cues and the brain. It takes time to readjust to hearing sounds that one has not heard for a long time and it takes a truly compassionate individual to guide you toward success. Over a period of time I was not just hearing better, but understanding the difficulties that go with hearing loss. I was literally putting my hearing rehabilitation in Dr. Devore’s hands. She is caring and patient. She understands the struggle involved. As a teacher I felt that she was not only providing hearing aids and testing, but teaching me how to hear again. I was very fortunate to become a patient of hers. I recommend her highly.
